I photographed Carl Ann and Kevin's wedding on May 19th in Delaware. The reception was at the Dupont Country Club. They were both so sweet and really emotional people which made the photos even better. Everyone was laughing and crying. Carol Ann is so pretty and Kevin was a lot of fun to work with. They wanted to have their wedding in Cape May so you can see a beach theme to some of the guest's favors. They are actually hiring me to do a shoot in Cape May and Wildwood in a few weeks too! They are going to get all dressed up again and have a romantic shoot on the boardwalk and then in the waves! I am really looking forward to that, so check back!
Of course I love red!
Carol Ann and her childhood dog, Casey, so cute!

I don't know why but the groomsmen dared Kevin to pretend he was hitchhiking.

After the ceremony we stopped in their college bar hangout.
....and Kevin made friends.

The tears were flowing during a slide show of their lives.

This room was a perfect size for bouncing my flash off the walls to create this nice light.

Glenn Foerd Wedding

To see a large collection of photos from this wedding click here to get to my website.
I photographed Mabel and Bill's wedding at Glenn Foerd Mansion in Northeast Philly on May 5th. I just love the color red, so to photograph this wedding was eye candy for me (even my office walls are red!) We really lucked out with beautiful weather. It was nice and sunny but not too hot. Glenn Foerd is really one of the most beautiful wedding spots in Philly. They recently added on a new reception area called the Riverside Conservatory. It feels like you are actually outside because it is all glass and you can see all the wonderful views of the grounds and the river during your reception. One of my favorite shots was taken by my assistant of the bridesmaid in red looking out at the river. She shot it through a frosted part of the glass so it looks all dreamy and blurry like a painting. It reminds me of the 19th century paintings that would actually be hanging up at Glenn Foerd in the art gallery upstairs.

Meranda's pregnancy photos

I shot Meranda and Bob's wedding last June at the Willow's.
Meranda had also hired me to photograph her first "baby", Deek their dog, as a present for Bob.

So now she is about to have a baby in a few weeks and I did a pregnancy shoot in her home and also in the Wissahickon park. Bob and Meranda are avid runners and train for marathons. So the trails in the Wissahickon are very special to them. I photographed both the dog portrait there and the pregnancy ones. Meranda has such great energy and I can see why she is a good school teacher. I am sure she will be missed by her students when she goes on maternity leave, but her baby will be very fortunate to have great parents. When I got to their house to do the shoot I saw my photos so artistically framed around their home and that made me so happy. I can't wait to meet the new baby!

a nice email from Jeffrey
Heather - This was such a treat. We were so excited to see some pics, but
never thought we'd get them in time to show our parents and family for
mother's day. It really made the day extra special. I can't sing your
praises enough. In a strange way, it's like you've become part of our
family because you've been there to capture the most important times in our
lives. And your blog was just so flattering. I don't think I ever realized
quite how silly I must seem when I'm around my little girl. Sophia looks
amazing in the pictures. You did a fantastic job, as usual. I can't wait
to see the rest of the pictures. Thanks again!!

I love when this happens!

Today I had my 3rd shoot with Shanna and Jeffrey. I photographed their wedding, did pregnancy shots, and today got to meet their daughter Sofia. I just love when this happens! I got to document three huge moments in a family's life. The feeling of pride I get from this is why I am a photographer. To see their lives change and evolve over the years is such an honor to document.
We went to Pastorious park in Chestnut Hill where I like to watch the dogs. We had a few dogs tag along and try to join in the family portrait. I guess Shanna and Jeffrey look like a good family to follow home! So Sofia is a "daddy's girl" for sure. He is so sweet how he interacts with her and she cracks up at all her dad's funny faces. I could even tell on their wedding day that Jeffrey would be a good dad by the way he told jokes to all his nieces and nephews. Jeffrey is one of the most outgoing and laid back groom's I ever photographed. He had me cracking up all day today singing Elmo and cookie monster. He's the funniest lawyer I ever met!

Pictage photo seminar in Chicago
I went to a photo conference this week in Chicago. But this is the only photo I got to take of the city. I was too busy in all the seminars. It was run by Pictage, (the wedding website where all my clients can view their photos.) It was a very inspirational seminar packed with classes that taught us everything from lighting techniques to marketing. I am so pumped up with new ideas and goals. I also met lots of interesting photographers from all over the country. It really is wonderful that they promote such a great community and help us grow! Continuing education is so important and meeting fresh faces has given me many new ideas for this wedding season! These are some of the photographers I saw speak:
Dennis Reggie
David Jay
Pepper Nix
Bob Davis
Brody Dezember
walking the dogs
Usually I walk my dogs on the Wissahickon trails so they can go swimming and we can enjoy nature. But today my boyfriend, Shawn took me to a spot he liked nearby. I can't help it, but every time I see a good photo scene I imagine putting a bride into it! It's not your typical wedding scenery but I wish I had a bride who wanted a more urban grungy look sometimes. I like the arch and the bright graffiti in this shot. Any one interested?
Of course the dogs needed a bath with the hose after their hot walk .
my "real" family photos
I just wanted to post some recent family photos. These are actually my boyfriend, Shawn's family. I've been with Shawn for 13 years now (no we are not married yet) and over those years they have become my own family. They are very close to me and it was in photographing them in college that inspired me to become a photographer. They were my subjects in all of my photo courses. I don't photograph them as much now that photography has become a career for me and I think that is a shame. So I am making an effort to document them more often now. I never want the photos to seem like typical family snapshots. I would like to capture them in a more true light that reveals the feelings I have when I'm with them. (but sometimes the cuteness affect of the little ones takes over and I can't help but to take your "typical" cute kid photos.) Most of these in my first family post are of Riley, my boyfriend's niece. She is the first grandchild, so plenty spoiled and full of personality!
