Dana and Ken's engagement session

Dana and Ken live around the corner from my new studio in Liberties Walk. Their session was a combination of engagement photos and doggie portraits of their cute poodle Roxy. I had a blast with them because they wanted photos that represented their neighborhood and their lives here in Northern Liberties. We started out with some portraits in the studio, then headed over to the Orianna hill dog park, then the alley by their apartment full of colorful graffiti, then to the Piazza at Schmidts, and by some murals and the church across the street.

Piazza at Schmidts pet expo candids

I had a busy weekend! Shot a great wedding on Saturday then was a vendor on Sunday at the Piazza at Schmidts pet expo hosted by Chic Petique and Chez Bow Wow. The weather was a little iffy so I did not set up the doggie photo booth but took lots of candids instead. My table was a great success with lots of interest. I met so many great new friends both human and animal.

This little guy is named Harley. His daddy booked a doggie session this June for his daughter. I can't wait, I am so in love with Harley!

Some of my past clients came out too. Dot the Chihuahua in the cutest outfit. Check out some of the links on these dogs to see their professional studio portrait done this past winter. Dot won one of the contest and received a gift certificate from the Chic Petique.

This was too funny check out the size difference. This Great Dane won the prize for biggest dog which was a gift certificate for a doggie portrait in my studio. So stay tuned for that.

Making a run for it!

I think this guy needs a home.

Another past client with Rachel and Allistare. Believe it or not but all these dogs live in one household! Their owners are angels and many are adopted or fostered.

Winner of the Chez Bow Wow gift certificate

Another returning friend, Sterling!

This is me at my table with a borrowed dog model. ( Jody and Blue did not come out.)

proposal in the Piazza at Schmidts

I photographed a proposal in the Piazza at Schmidts last week. Eclatante called me to let me know it was going on and to ask me to cover it. This is such a cute story, I was tearing up as it happened and I did not even know the couples names.
Yoni (the groom to be) set up a slide show on the Piazza's t.v. screen and Tali (the bride to be) was set up to walk through the piazza that day by her family. He also had a huge snowman built and champagne and flowers sitting out on a table. Since Yoni was suppose to be out of the country Tali just thought is was a really sweet Valentine's day gift from her boyfriend overseas. Then after the slide show played Yoni walked out of the door and got onto his knees to propose. Tali was completely shocked! What I love best about these photos is that they are TRUE photojournalism and so full of emotion. The couple continued to beam with huge smiles even after it sunk in and she said yes!
I hope they hire me for thier wedding!

The new studio/storefront

I finally took some photos of the new studio! It is a storefront with a cozy living room area to meet with brides and high ceilings to show off my work. It also has a shooting area with a backdrop that comes down to photograph dogs and babies. I am so proud and excited about this new space so feel free to check it out! It feels like home everyday when I walk in and is a dream come true for me.

This is the shooting area.

All the window light that comes in is great too for available light portraits of babies.

New sample albums!

I offer custom framing now too.

I love this wall my husband painted for me. He added sand to the dark brown to give it texture and dimension.

Canvas clusters are a fun way to display multiple photos in a collage.

The dogs look great displayed in this modern way.

This is called a box mount where the photo is mounted on a 1 inch box and the sides are painted black. Great for the black and white dog shoots.

Here he is. Even Blue gets his own area of the studio!

Below is Liberties Walk, the development of stores I am in. Check out it's facebook page to keep up to date with activites. It's a fun new area of philly with two blocks of restaurants, bars, coffee shop, pet boutiques, salons, bakery and some other friends in the wedding biz too. In the summer months it is full of people strolling along this European feeling walk. The string lights add some ambiance all year long.

Below are some photos of TuBelleza an amazing hair and makeup studio, Beautiful Blooms, and Eclatante event design. This area is soon becoming a one stop wedding planning destination! I feel so fortunate to be neighbors with these talented creative ladies!

Beautiful Blooms has opened a flower boutique and has an amazing window for Valentine's day!

Liberties Walk is right across the street from the new Piazza at Schmidts
a beautifully landscaped, 80,000 square foot open-air plaza with free events year-round, surrounded by three new buildings including 35 artist’s studios and boutiques, four new restaurants, 500 apartments and 50,000 square feet of office space in the Northern Liberties neighborhood.
